Prevent Blindness Nebraska

One of the privileges of the President of a Pioneer Council is when I get to present a gift to a needy organization.  Last month it was my privilege to present, with Bob Kemp, a check to Kim Shillito from Prevent Blindness Nebraska to purchase some needed photographic equipment.  This activity warrants the investment, and for sure, the children in the metropolitan area will benefit from it.

For those of you who don't know, our Vision Screening committee has been around a long time, almost 25 years and Bob Kemp has been the chairman for almost that long.  They visit schools and take pictures of students' eyes to determine if they need to be referred to a doctor.  Bob's committee puts in many hours providing this valuable service on a volunteer basis checking the eyes of the youngsters in the Omaha area.  The Heartland Council thanks the committee and its volunteers for there work.
