At the last Luncheon on Thursday April 23rd, 2015 the attendance was 122 people with three grocery carts of food for Salvation Army.

Hug-A-Bears have delivered 512 bears making a total of 34,413 during the past eleven plus years.


Hooks and Needles have made 496 items.


Completed projects since Spring Newsletter

On Saturday April 11th, 13 volunteers from Turkey Fest and 10 volunteers from Bell Ring attended a Volunteer Recognition Breakfast & Awards Presentation at the Salvation Army Kroc Center.


Upcoming Events for the rest of 2015.

The second Luncheon is Thursday August 27th with a food drive for the Salvation Army. Reservations are due August 20th and you can find the form at www.heartlandpioneers.com under Omaha or with this newsletter. The last Luncheon will be Thursday December 3rd.


Upcoming Events for the fall of 2015:

  • During the last of October thru November, I will contact last year helpers for Bell Ringing.  Again this year we will need a store captain for each Saturday on December 5th, 12th, and 19th or one for all Saturdays. The store captain checks every two hours to make sure those scheduled have shown up to ring. If available contact Dick Maxwell @ 402 572- 8474.

  • During the month of November, Deb Grady will contact last year helpers for Turkey Fest. Hope everyone can help again this year. On Wednesday evening the 25th of November we will be filling bags of items to go with the Turkey dinners, which are assembled and delivered the following Thursday morning from the Kroc Center.

  • On Friday the 5th of December six volunteers will do paper work for Adopt A- Family at Salvation Army on Burt Street.

  • Bell Ringing for the Salvation Army will be Saturday’s the 5th, 12th, and 19th of December at Sam’s Club as in the past. Two hour shifts from 10:00 a. m. till 6:00 p. m. If you would like to help with this project please contact Dick Maxwell @ 402 572 8474.

  • Each Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. till 1:00 p. m. Hug-A-Bears meet and stuff bears at the Maple Ridge Adult Living Center located at 168th and Maple.  Please contact Steve Dawkins @ 402 740-2475 if interested in helping.

  • Each third Saturday of most months the Hooks and Needles meet at the Ralston Library @ 1:30 to turn in items, talk, show and tell, and a snack. Please contact Jean Belmudez @ 402 733-3926 or Elaine Hobbs @ 712 328-2580 if interested in helping with this project.

  • On the third Thursday of each month we drive blind people to and from their monthly N F B Meeting. If you would like to help drive for this project contact Darwin Fager @ 402 670-4449.


You all come help with some of our great projects. They are not difficult and we try to have some fun each time.
