Items of interest since the Autumn Newsletter.
At the last L M Luncheon on Thursday December 1st, 2016 the attendance was 130 people with six grocery carts of food for Salvation Army.

Hug-A-Bears have delivered 820 bears making a total of 38,007 during the past twelve plus years.

Hooks and Needles have made 159 items since last newsletter.

Completed projects since Autumn Newsletter
On Wednesday evening November 23rd, 2016 sixteen volunteers did preliminary things for Turkey fest. On Thursday morning November 24th, 2016 - sixteen helpers, including some of those same volunteers prepared the meals for delivery.

On Friday December 2nd, 2016 Bill & Carol Fleming, Barb & Lloyd Grey, Betty & Jerry Golmanavich, Cathy & Dick Maxwell, and Joan & Ron Siwa volunteered to do paper work for Adopt-a-Family. All were adopted by 1:00 p. m.

On the three Saturdays of December, Ringing Bells I would like to thank the following sixteen volunteers: Bill Peters, Frank & Rose Markesi, Linda Jurgens, Sylvia Jones, Doug Thoms & G. D. Taya Thoms, Paul Pickrel, Darwin Fager, Darla Plymala & G. S. Austin Lincoln, Betty & Jerry Golmanavich, Don & Verneta Dirks, and Kevin Arnold, for ringing bells at Sam’s Club. The Kettles contained $1,133.42 which rounds to about $.80 per minute for the eight hours per day we were ringing. Thank you all for volunteering for these projects. Hope all of you will volunteer again for these projects in 2017.

Upcoming Events for the rest of 2017.
The first Life-Member-Luncheon of 2017 is Thursday April 20th at Presbyterian Church of the Cross at 1517 South 114th Street. Park in the lot NE of the Church and enter the North door. There will also be a much-needed food drive for the Salvation Army. Please be generous.

The second L M Luncheon will be Thursday August 24th 2017 and the last one will be Thursday December 7th, 2017.

In November, we again are planning to have Turkey Fest followed by in December Adopt A- Family along with Bell Ringing.

Each Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. till 1:00 p. m. we stuff bears at the Maple Ridge Adult Living Center located at 168th and Maple. Please contact Steve Dawkins @ 402 740-2475 if interested in helping.

Third Saturday of most months the Hooks and Needles meet at the Ralston Library @ 1:30 to turn in items, discussion, and a snack. Please contact Elaine Hobbs @ 712 328-2580 if interested in helping with this project.

You all come help with some of our great projects. They are not difficult and we try to have some fun each time.

Bear Construction: Each Tuesday from 9:00 a. m. till 1:00 p. m. we stuff bears at the Maple Ridge Adult Living Center located at 168th and Maple Street in the lower level.  Please contact Steve Dawkins cell phone at 402 740-2475 if interested in helping.  Hug A Bears are always seeking helpers, (including fabric sewing machine helpers) - for the demand is great for the BEARS.

 

Hooks and Needles meet most third Saturday’s of the month the meet at the Ralston Library @ 1:30 to turn in items, discussion, show and tell, and a snack. Please contact Jean Belmudez @ 402 733-3926 or Elaine Hobbs @ 712 328-2580 if interested in helping with this project. Hooks and Needles have made 193 items for 2016.

 

Life Member Luncheons with a food drive of non-perishables for the Salvation Army. PLEASE be generous for this food collection. Bob’s Wolkins truck will be at the North entrance for this collection on the lower level.  Luncheon reservations are due April 13th and you can find a copy on the website of www.heartlandpioneers.com click “Omaha” then under square marked LML and also check other squares for information.
