Preserving Omaha's Black History

The Dreamland Project is one that's just starting to take hold in Omaha.  The prime supporter is none other than Sibyl Myers, our friend at the Omaha World Herald.  The intent is to preserve the history of the African American Community in Omaha. It was named after the Dreamland Ballroom in the Jewell building on North 24th St. and is hoping to establish archives and other resources for future generations to learn about notable experiences throughout history.

There may be a member of the Heartland Council that would like to become the Chairman of a committee to act as liaison with Sibyl and her group.  Since the task is currently undefined, it would be up to that person to decide what he/she would like to do and submit a proposal to the board.  If you have any interest, please contact Jerry Golmanavich at telecompioneer@cox.net.
