HCP Bylines by Richard Maxwell… Completed Events of 2010, plus future 2011: Edit 4/21/11

 

Adopt-a-Family / through the Radio-thon process:  On Friday morning of Dec-2nd, our

ten Pioneers were at the Salvation Army Headquarters completing the paper work and

mailers to inform the Adoptees and the benefactors alike with confirmations. Our Thank

you to the following for helping on this 8:00 am to Noon project:  Joe Bonaiuto;  Lois Britell; 

Bill Fleming;  Lloyd and Barb Gray;  Ron and Joan Siwa;  Doug Thomas;  plus

Richard and Cathy Maxwell; 

 

Bell Ringing for S.A. Kettles:  This last December of 2010 required coverage on three Saturdays at assigned locations. We rang at Sam’s Club, 13113 L St with these good volunteers on Dec-4th.  Our Thank you to:  Bill Peters;  Don and Vernetta Dirks;  Charlene Thompson;  Sylvia Jones;  Claude Welch;  Doug Thoms;  and Paul Pickeral.

The next Saturday Dec-11th. Our Thank you goes to: Bill Peters;  Lloyd and Barb Gray;  Darla Plymale;  and Lois Britell… Kevin Arnold filled in from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. But the extreme cold made Kevin’s shift the last for that Saturday. The last Saturday we rang was Dec-18th. Bill peters;  Frank and Rose Markesi;  George Parkerson;  Rick and Melody Madej;  Norman Thomas;  plus Jim and Joee Kvetensky. All in all we worked 128 hours with our 23 volunteers and the Kettle dollars reached  $1,167.55.

 

Participation Total Hours from 2010:  Our volunteers helped for 59,830 reported hours. The break out hours are thus: Project Connect = 258 hrs;  Hug-a-Bears = 15, 965 hrs with delivery of 1,530;  Adopt-a-family = 66 hrs;  Bell ringers = 128 hrs;  Driving for the Blind =807 hrs;  Turkey-Fest = 107 hrs;  Hooks & needles = 38,781 hrs; Brush-up-NE = 200 hrs;  Administration hrs = 1660 and Misc Community Services = 1,863 hours.

 

Upcoming Events for new year of 2011: 

First Life-Member-Luncheon (LML) was on Wednesday April 20. Did you notice there is usually a Salvation-Army Food Drive connected to an LML?

The NEXT two dates for our LML’s are:  Aug-3 <CHANGE to the First-Wednesday and  then Dec-1st  which is a Thursday, so mark up your calendar datesright now!!! 

 

Of course we plan to do another Brush-Up a NE home in August-2011;  an Adopt-a-Family /Radio-thon plus doing another set of Bell-Ringing dates in December of 2011 on 3, 10, & 17th too. Come help with some of our GREAT projects. They are not difficult and we try to have some fun each time.
