The blood drive scheduled for May 7th was cancelled per Red Cross stating they have rescheduled our dates to other locations in the city because of our unstable condition caused by our layoffs and plant closing. Thank you to all of you who have come for the past drives.

UPCOMING PROJECTS FOR THE REST OF YEAR.

LIFE MEMBER LUNCHEON.   By RA Maxwell

At this August 17th LM-Luncheon we will again be collecting food for the Salvation Army Food Pantry. Thank you to all who have brought wonderful donations of food to past luncheons. Again, please bring some of these following items: Cereal, Boxed dinners, Boxed or bag rice projects, Canned meat, Canned vegetables, Canned tomato products, Canned beans, Canned soups/stew, Boxed macaroni and cheese, and of course Cake/cookie mix. There is a dire need for the food items listed. They all will be greatly appreciated.

Brush-up Nebraska… will be August 21st. We will be painting a house for the poor or handicapped. We will be notified on July 14th the actual location of the house. We need a crew of about 25 good volunteers to do ONE house. At our last council meeting about 15 indicated they plan on coming. Additional volunteers will be in our request at this August LM-Luncheon.   By RA Maxwell

Visiting the Shut-Ins… Our new HCP Committee will be good for

our community. These are our thoughts – Of course people we visit would have to be called to see if they even want any guests.  Some possible HCP volunteers could be from our friends or lunch groups,

or from our HCP driving for the blind group.

What would be our scope – Just to visit, listen or sing old songs with them – or to be someone to drive them places.   By RB Gaddie Sr.

All of the ABOVE and/or the FOLLOWING projects of HCP can be found on our WEB Site.            http://www.heartlandpioneers.com/

Turkey Feast… will be November 24th and 25th. Volunteers will be needed on Wednesday evening the 24th to pack bags with cookies, bread and butter etc. On Thursday the 25 volunteers will be needed to deliver the meals by NOON to families that have requested meals.   By RA Maxwell.

Adopt-a-Family Radio-thon… will be Thursday and Friday the 2nd & 3rd of December. I have secured Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon to do paper work. I will need  6 to 8 volunteers. All volunteers from last year will be re-contacted.   By RA Maxwell

Bell ringing… will be on Saturday's from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on the 4th, 11th, and 18th of December at Sam's Club at 13130 "L" street. All volunteers who rang last year will be re-contacted for two hour slots. More could be needed to cover vacated slots so please contact me:  Richard Maxwell at 572-8474; if you would like to come, smile, ring and say “Thank You”, for the Salvation Army this year.
